Tuan Q. Lai
Tuan Q. Lai, a certified professional engineer, is an electrical engineer in the Construction Support Branch of the Construction-Operations Division for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District. He has significantly contributed khổng lồ the success of the $9.3 billion in critical military construction projects that the district has executed to lớn the benefit of the nation since he joined the team in 1983.
Since late 2003, Lai has been assigned lớn Construction Support Branch, where his vast and varied field construction experience helped to improve sầu solicitations through the Biddability, Constructability, Operability, Environmental and Sustainability review process, of which he is a determined champion.

Earlier in 2003, Lai executed dredging & small boat harbor improvement projects as a member of the district’s civil works resident office. In 1994, he was assigned as a project engineer for construction of the Elmendorf Air Force Base Composite Medical Facility, a major hospital. During that time he also worked on many other military construction projects, such as barracks, hangars and company operations facilities.
Beginning in 1987, he worked at the remote Shemya Isl& project office. He was responsible for enforcing the chất lượng assurance program on multiple concurrent contracts, such as the installation of three 3.1-megawatt generators in the local power plant, conversion of an overhead electrical distribution system lớn underground, tăng cấp of over 70 building electrical services, & installation of standby generators in all critical facilities.

The most significant of these are the Alaska District Outstanding Engineer/Scientist (2012), Pacific Ocean Division Construction Management Excellence (2012), two Achievement Medals for Civilian Service (1990), Alaska District"s Employee of the Year for Safety (1989), North Pacific Division"s “Hard Hat of the Year” Nomination (1989), and Alaska District Hard Hat award (1989).
In 1982, he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Portlvà State University in Portlvà, Oregon. In 1996, he obtained a professional electrical engineer license in the state of Alaska. Born in 1959, Lai grew up in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minc City), Vietphái nam, during wartime before being evacuated to lớn the United States in 1975.
